Guru for Hire
Ever think it would be cool to have your own personal Home Brew Guru? Well now you can!
The Guru is available for …
- brewing classes (maximum of 8 people)
- guided tasting sessions (maximum of 15 people)
- speaking engagements (no maximum!)
Brewing classes: You provide a suitable place to brew, with enough space for your group to gather. Besides the obvious — a stove and good clean water, and space to store your beer while it’s fermenting — you should provide as much of the equipment as possible. I can loan or sell you anything you are missing. An extract or partial mash brew will require about 3 hours of time, an all-grain session about 5 hours.
Equipment required for extract/partial mash brewing:
- Kettle (4 gallon minimum for extract/partial mash brewing, 6 gallon minimum for all-grain)
- Long spoon
- 6.5 gallon fermenting bucket with lid and airlock
- 5-gallon carboy with airlock
- Siphoning equipment
- Bottling bucket (or equivalent)
- 50 clean bottles
- 50 caps
- Bottle capper
- Hydrometer
- Thermometer
Additional for all-grain:
- Mash tun
- Sparging apparatus
- Sparge liquor tank
- Wort chiller (I can lend these)
I will provide ingredients based on the style and level of expertise. I can also bring some beer for judging, appreciation and/or evaluation while the brew is occurring.
Tasting sessions:
You provide a suitable location where we can legally pour and drink beer. I will provide the beers, glasses, and all necessary extras.
Speaking:
You provide the audience, a microphone (if necessary) and a dais/podium of some kind. I’ll provide the knowledge, insight and wit!
Fees:
I get $40/hour (including travel time) for any of these appearances, plus mileage and the cost of any ingredients, beer, etc.
For example: A basic extract brewing class with 3 beers to taste and appreciate, in the Tunbridge / South Royalton area:
