brewing classes

You provide a suitable place to brew, with enough space for your group to gather. Besides the obvious — a stove and good clean water, and space to store your beer while it’s fermenting — you should provide as much of the equipment as possible. I can loan or sell you anything you are missing. An extract or partial mash brew will require about 3 hours of time, an all-grain session about 5 hours.

Equipment required for extract/partial mash brewing:

  • Kettle (4 gallon minimum for extract/partial mash brewing, 6 gallon minimum for all-grain)
  • Long spoon
  • 6.5 gallon fermenting bucket with lid and airlock
  • 5-gallon carboy with airlock
  • Siphoning equipment
  • Bottling bucket (or equivalent)
  • 50 clean bottles
  • 50 caps
  • Bottle capper
  • Hydrometer
  • Thermometer

Additional for all-grain:

    • Mash tun
    • Sparging apparatus
    • Sparge liquor tank
    • Wort chiller (I can lend these)

I will provide ingredients based on the style and level of expertise. I can also bring some beer for judging, appreciation and/or evaluation while the brew is occurring.
